And suddenly...there was Singapore

As our 60 days visa for Indonesia was about to expire, we had to leave the country for a few days and Singapore was the logical choice. Not that we were not ready for some luxury. Java was already a step up to civilisation, but compared to Singapore.....
Suddenly we saw clean streets, everywhere people at work, there were traffic light which actually made people stop, the signs no smoking, WIFi spots were actually having WIFI etc. etc.
Although we ware still at the other side of the world we almost got a feeling of being home. We really enjoyed the differences. We met with colleague Hans who was so friendly to take some of our excess luggage include the results of Katjas shopping experience. Thank you Hans! So with less heavy backpacks we can move to our next destination. So what did we do in Singapore; being romantic!!
After the very nice first evening with Hans ( who also introduced us to use Uber) we spend the next day with ((some) shopping, a visit to Marina Bay and a really nice Singapore Sling as a sundowner at the rooftop of the beautiful colonial Fullerton hotel. After that a nice dinner at boat quay with beautiful porkribs (not available in islamic indonesia) and, believe it or not, a glass of red wine. Next day we spend some time with shopping again, spend some time at the pool and finally went to have an icecream at the waterfront followed by a our first round ever in the singapore flyer. And it was nice ( for once), but we almost overdid the romance here. So we walked over to boat quay again to have an italian meal with....wine again. Next day we had to leave Singapore, just in tome to escape the Chinese New Year which is a big thing in Singapore as the Chinese are the largest, 70%, ethnic group here. On our way back we had the Best taxi ride of our life. A complete decorated taxi including discolights and music, all done by Alfredo the chinese driver, to celebrate new year. Any way up to Sumatra for our last 5 days in Indonesia.

Hoi Robbiue en Katja,
moret toch een vreemde gewaarwording zijn: 2 maanden in de rimboe en ouwe zooi en dan ineens in het hypermoderne Singapore :-))
Ook het weerzien met Hans moet effe een vreemd moment geweest zij:-))
Ik heb al je verslagen met plezier gelezen en kan mij er ales bij voorstellen :-))
Wanneer komen jullie eigenlijk terug?? Kan niet zo heel lang meer dxuren, toch?
Ik zou zeggen: geniet er nog maar een poosje van, want de maand februari is zo voorbij.....
Zie je vanzelf wel weer een keer in Naarden binnenrollen :-))
